Mettet - From Snow to Sunshine

After the winter chaos in Spa, many of us headed straight on to Mettet. Real petrolheads don’t simply go home when the track is calling. And that’s despite the fact that just a day earlier, Belgium looked like someone had shaken a giant snow globe over it. Still, the forecast promised 12 to 14°C – and that sounded like a fair chance.

The day kicked off with a small but memorable reality check. At 7:00 in the morning, it was so bitterly cold that we couldn’t even get onto the facility. The keypad at the entrance barrier was completely frozen. You could press a button, sure – but the number just stayed stuck on the display, frozen solid. Our reaction? Standing there, staring at it helplessly – exactly the kind of look you have before your first coffee really works.

The solution turned out to be simple. About ten minutes of warm breath blown onto the display and the technology came back to life. Spring trackday reality. It honestly doesn’t get much more real than that – and somehow, that’s exactly what makes it great.

Mettet was fully booked – no surprise there. This circuit has long been a firm favourite in the GP Days calendar, and for good reason. At first glance, Mettet looks small and friendly. But don’t be fooled for a second. Take a closer look and you’ll understand why it’s so popular: precise line choice, clean vision, and a very technical infield, including a small corkscrew chicane that wouldn’t feel out of place at Laguna Seca.

IN SHORT:
Mettet forgives nothing – and that’s exactly why it gives you so much. Every lap is a riding lesson, whether you ask for it or not. And all of that at costs that won’t even make your car sweat (except maybe the front right tyre).

As the morning went on, things changed quickly. The sun came out, temperatures climbed, and suddenly you could feel it: for March, this was a perfect riding day. Great vibes, even better motivation.

It was also great to see participants from the UK making the trip across the Channel once again. Over the water with a trailer, to Belgium, for one trackday – or in this case two, since quite a few had already been with us in Spa as well. That’s either pure passion or simply very good taste. Either way, it’s another clear sign of how international the GP Days community has become.

The weather stayed on our side all day. Sometimes sunny, sometimes lightly overcast, but never annoying. No surprises, no interruptions, no drama. The trackday ran smoothly from start to finish – which, for an outdoor event in Belgium in March, is almost a small miracle.

In the end, it was one of those days where you stop counting laps and just realise: I’ve gotten faster. Ride. Learn. Repeat. Improve --> That’s Circuit Mettet!

Mettet will remain a fixed part of the GP Days programme in 2026, and we’re already looking forward to it: two double dates (Thursday + Friday) in July and October, and one single date in May.

One honest tip from experience:
Pit boxes in Mettet are highly sought after. There are only six, and they usually sell out lightning‑fast. If you want one, book now – not later, while thinking you should have.
